Adoptable Animals
Minimum Requirements :
-
Applicant must be at least 18 years old.
-
If applicant rents, landlord must verify that pets are allowed.
-
All pets in the home must be up to date on their rabies vaccine.
Out-of-state applicants are welcome to apply but must come to us to meet and adopt the animal. We are unable to transport them to another state and will not put them on a plane to another state or country by themselves.
Due to the medical and behavioral problems it can cause (such as lameness, muscle atrophy, arthritis, and litter box aversion), SFTS does not condone declawing, it goes against our adoption contract, and it's banned in Madison, WI as of 12/7/21. We're more than happy to discuss healthy alternatives to this painful procedure (such as nail caps, citrus sprays, scratching posts, and monthly nail trims) and can teach adopters how to trim nails as well. If you're interested in learning more about declawing and the negative side effects it can cause, please read Cat Declawing: The Price of Convenience.
